They still keep track of the herds yes. We saw one herd in it's usual spot mid december.

We do have a topic on them, I'll merge these posts soon... ;)

We saw 2 herds around Talamati not too long ago. One herd was on the open plain right in front of Talamati, and the other was about a 20 minute drive out from Talamati.

There was also a fight in the Sable herd right in front of the Camp which caused a rush to the Hide.

Many years ago sable was spotted regularly on the Letaba / Phalaborwa road. I believe this is not the case anymore. Would be interesting to hear from the Phalaborwa 'mites

About 18 years ago we saw one sable somewhere near Pretoriuskop. After that not a single one. Then, two years ago, we saw a herd of them at the Mondzweni Dam (on the S36 - near to Talamti) and last year we saw them exactly at the same spot. Both times they were drinking and grazing - around 11 o'clock.

In 2008 we spotted a small herd near Talamati and then last year we were very lucky to see a herd in the distance near the H12. We were with about 20 cars on the bridge watching a pride of lions when an elderly gentleman pulled over to us and said that we can see lions most days but if we turn around and take the small dirt road before the bridge we will see Sable. What a privillage! They are amazing and thank you to our kind stranger.

I am a guide operating out of Phalaborwa and no, haven't seen Sable here for ages. Used to see them plenty. Have been getting good sightings of the other rare antelope but my favourite spot for Sable is that entire S36 - as mentioned above.

Now outside Phalaborwa I see them plenty but that doesn't count - on a game farm specifically breeding them. But still nice and makes driving to Tzaneen a pleasure!

In December we saw one big herd and a week later a smaller herd on almost the exact same place on the H1-2 either side of the Kruger tablets.

They are still alive and well on the Napi Boulder dirt road.
I guess the grass is just to tall to spot them.

Am open to correction on this, but looked very much like a Sable on Satara cam about 18H30 S.A.
time last night. Please confirm or correct
