Looks like the same one!

Facial markings are quite distinctive!

The other bull has a different face, for example!

This is really remarkable, and SWNMNBM will be able to dry her tears!

Reading the comments of Richprins… maybe helpful to ID Sable and Roan antelopes… :)

Pumbaa,
I really hope you will find them.  We do recognize that we were extremely lucky with Sable, Roan and Eland sightings.... :) :) and reading the comments with the TR I see many have these antelopes on their wishlist.

Aat, great sighting and superb photos of these magnificent antelopes. During my January trip this year I travelled the S36 several times but failed to spot these majestic animals. :(

Which makes it all the more exciting when they are found, Adw. I've tried several times recently, but only once came across them, albeit fairly far away.

Have they been seen in the centre of the park at all?
I read they were seen on the s36 ...
you get the impression they could only be seen on roads that have very little general game

I saw them on the H1-2 twice during my last trip... Both times in the vicinity of the Kruger tablets. The first herd was larger than the second and it had a collared bull with them aswell.

In 1995 on the S36 in the region north of Ngwenyeni dam , when I accompanied a staff member vultures were noticed in a tree some distance from the road . On investigation a carcass was seen , and we approached cautiously , stopping to throw stones from some distance to elicit a response as it was suspected a predator was on the carcass due to the vultures being in the trees and not on the ground .
This sable had been very recently killed , the blood pool on the ground was fairly fluid . Later examination proved it appeared to have been killed by the horn of another animal , probably a sable .

When last did anyone see Sable antelope in KNP? They are so beautiful and I have not seen any for years now.

I used to love the huge picture of a sable that Letaba had on one wall. The last time I was there I saw it was missing... :(

Do they still keep track of numbers of varius species in the park?
