On 24 December 2010 we came across this herd of Sable near Orpen Rocks on H1-2. We counted 27 of them!! This was by far one of the highlights of the trip!

Then just a few minutes later we saw this lone Bull on the S36 just after Jones Dam.

True, Dirk - would be interesting to read the latest mammal counts in Kruger.

I'm still waiting for a good herd - been many years now since I've seen more than a handful together. In which case, increasing sightings is exciting indeed!!

Seeing these images of the Sable near the Orpen tablets takes me back to Sept 2009 what a wonderful start it was to the Metsi-Metsi Trail it was. Thanks for sharing.

Incredible!

You are a lucky fish, SMW!

Very good news indeed, and suspect it is the herd seen earlier on the S-36, plus some new arrivals!

I was going through some of my old photos looking for birds and found this lovely photo of a Sable we saw on the S36 close to Jones Dam. He was very relaxed and just stared at us.

We saw this sable bull close to Jones dam on 28th November. He was injured and limped badly. RP mentioned to me they saw a injured bull in the vicinity some time ago. His post is a few pages ago. Could it be the same bull? That will be amazing!!!
