Was he part of a big herd? Let's hope he does survive, but I know with horses, their coats can change colour when they lose their baby coat, and with the hard legs and muzzle, he might end with with grey through his coat, but not as white. Just a guess. Thanks for sharing your highlight it is always great to see something unusal.

Hi Jock,
Yes the herd was very big. These animals are so caring of each other, right at the back there was a young buff I imagine about 18months old,who was limping, but there were about 4 other buffs around it not trying to hurry it, just keeping watch. Awesome animals!

Bornfree.

This very young calf was spotted on the H6 earlier this month. The herd size was approx 150 strong. In my more detailed image you can clearly see the skin around the eye is pink. I am not sure if this can be seen on the resized image. The calf looked in very good condition. It is more than likely the same individual Bornfree saw.

Fantastic he is still alive!! Got to be the same one. Maybe my imagination but seems to have filled out somewhat and those legs are a little bit sturdier.
Maybe we can keep an eye on him.
Please post if you see this beauty.

This photo of a true dagga boy was taken on the S90 in March this year. The herd numbered about 200 and the herd was in a placid mood and completely surrounded my vehicle as they slowly crossed the road. The exact location on the S90 was about 2-3 km north of the Bangu Waterhole where the Hlahleni stream crosses the S90.

Someone in the know tells me this herd which frequents Mopani area is currently known one in KNP - about 800 strong . I saw them passing above Shipandane hide early on Sunday morning - though they were on the move and not feeding it still took at least 20 minutes for the heard to pass - and only a small number came down to drink .

I wonder if this bull has the widest set of horns in KNP today. this photo was taken on the H6 during my Nov trip. I have seen this bull on an earlier trip on the S36.
