Hi OWN

In my guiding years a number of my colleagues were colour blind I have been with them when the saw leopard which we struggled to see. These guys said that it was almost as if the leopards stood out, like a chameleon in a spotlight.

Well, with Wildchild's sightings that one is busted!

That is very thought-provoking, Walloceros (nice name, btw!  )! I suppose it must depend to some degree on the TYPE of colour-blindness: there is red/green and total absence of colour perception, for example. I would imagine the latter would restrict the person's ability to contrast animals with their surroundings (look at a leopard pic in black-and-white, for example), but I'm no expert on colour. However, interesting stuff.

@wildchild: 55 so far this year!? WOW!!!

I've seen 5 so far since mid-March, including interaction between two adults at a kill. Let's see how many I'll see this year. Last years it was about 30.

This was the first one this year.

That is one of the finest leopard pics I've ever seen, Egilio!! The clarity is phenomenal, and the eyes are penetrating. I will aim to get a pic as good as that one day ... my new leopard mission.

I have not kept count , must have seen 30 or more but none have been as rewarding as this sighting ...

The 1st time ever that ours was the only car (and we found it ourselves = no pirate viewing) at a Leopard In Tree sighting near Xxxxkxxxx last Friday afternoon - only the approaching darkness forced our departure .

Its the nicest to have them all by yourself and even better if you spotted it.Very rewarding. The few we have spotted first the cars arrive after a few minutes but still better than a traffic jam.Anyway

Holigan ... that is awesome! How do you guys do it?

Ndloti, wonderful sighting; nice pic too! I agree with you - the "non-pirated" versions are that much sweeter.

2 tonight at different spots, both right next to the vehicle, and the 2nd one gave us a great roar too!

Wildchild, nice meeting you on 6 and 7 April. Lucky you, being in the Kruger again so soon after your previous visit, seeing more leopards and going again the next long weekend. Wish it could have been me!
At least we saw one! I only wish that people would not "hide" their sightings by pretending to do something else when another car arrives. It is all very well to enjoy a sighting on alone, but sometimes a car stands in such a way that no one else has a chance to see the sighting!

:hmz: That's sad, Bushmom. So, you missed it?

Ecojunkie, wonderful that you never get tired of them. And a roar too - that I still have to experience in its magnificence.

Hi Guys.

Just got back from the KNP this weekend and can add 4 more leopards to my sightings.

This is how it went.

- S100 : 2 leopards about 400m east of Shibotwana H2O hole walking at about 17h30.

- H 1-3 : 1 leopard sitting in a leafless tree a few kms north of Tshokwane.

- H 4-2 : 1 leopard seen at base of tree that slinked away just after spotting her about 500m north of the H5 junction.

That brings my tally to 37 :D :D :D
