100ponder,
I just looked at the pictures and the ones of Madzopfurini. I don't think it is him , diffenrences at the left ear and right ear (notch in left ear at your pics , not at the ones of madzopfurini. Also looking at his trunk there are differences. His left tusk is more upwards and madzopfurini's tusks are more round and curving inwards.., but that is just my opinion. :)

[quote="100ponder"]More on our BIG TUSKER hunting in the north of KNP.

We found this tusker at Nkokodzi water hole - he
seems to have a lot of characteristics similar to
Madzopfuini.

Could this be Madzopfurini with broken tusks ?
What do you think Aat ?

Here are photos taken on the red rocks route on 20 June 2012. The first 2 photos look like Machachule, as i could see the notch in the right ear.

Any ideas who this bull could be? Very similar sized tusks, but it was taken about 15km further down the road on the otherside of the river.

@ ALL

NEW Tusker added to the site.

Thanks to 100ponder and H Koen I could add a new tusker to my tusker site.

His name is MASHIKIRI , named after a spruit close to Klopperfontein, north of Punda Maria.
Nice to add one from this area

Photographed by H Koen in november 2011 , could not ID him and with the pictures of 100ponder, made in june this year I think it was time to add this him

DocD,
Idd not too difficult to recognize / Id Machachule , his ears are unique in combination with his wonderful tusks.
The other one is more difficult but to my opinion it can be Babalala , not 100% but close

But who is currently the bigest living tusker in Kruger? Is there any big tuskers in Mapungubwe as well?

More on our BIG TUSKER hunting in the north of KNP.

Firstly - thanks Aat for adding Mashikiri to your records of tuskers - we were quite certain that we had found a new tusker.

On the morning we of the same day we saw Mashikiri and well before sun-rise, we found this magnificent tusker at Lamont water hole just a few kilometer from Shingwedzi.

The light was very poor and the bull and his askari were very skittish making off as soon as we stopped.

This bull has a worn RH tusk but quite a long LH tusk - could he possibly qualify as a "tusker" ?

Aat, I will send you a small collection of our photos of this bull.

Edit :- After more studying the "tuskersofafrica" website, I am 80% certain this tusker is Boyala - Do you agree Aat ?

Thanks very much for these friendly words.... was just "working" again with ID'ing and updating the tusker site

New updates thanks to several people who sent me pictures , some are forumites here some not but result is that I could update
MaMerle (tusker cow) , Ngodzi and Kaleka.

Also received pics of Machachule , Zambhala and some others. Because of availale space at my site I do not update with all pics I get so I now mainly add one picture and only if there is some time between the entries. Sorry for that but I do this without any sponsoring so hoping for some understanding.

Herman,
There is a number of tuskers you can mention as big ones today:
Masthulele, Machachule, Babalala, Mac (with collar = tracked by Save the Elephants org) Madolo and Ngunyupezi , Nwashinangana, Mavatsani.

Some do have long tusks Masthulele and some do have long and very thick (heavy tusks) like Mac

Some of these tuskers have been seen recently and more often, some not for some time.

A tusker Tsotsi is still on my site as tusker of today but I doubt he is still alive... haven't heard or seen anything of him for a long long time... and normally he was seen often near Letaba... maybe one of you can check at Letaba Hall if there is anything known about him

Aat here is another longshot for you to look at! He was seen near Mooiplaas picnic site, a little further along the river.

Salamanda,
Can't ID this one , not known to me. Looking at pictures I have from bulls around Mopani I think there is a nice number of bulls with this tusks of this size, which is good to see and maybe proofs that this area up to Shingwedzi is the "breeding place" for tuskers.
