Hi All, Here is an antelope which I would like you to identify.
Image
The photograph was taken near Klopperfontein dam last December. I can't decide whether it is a Sharpe's grysbok, which are fairly common around Punda Maria, or a Klipspringer, which I have never seen this far north before, but it doesn't mean they aren't here. It looks like the latter but I normally see them on the koppies in the southern half of the park. There was actually a pair of them. bondm UK

Hello everyone.
Last year I saw these two rhinos in Kruger.
The second is clearly a white rhino, but the first one was much smaller and darker, which makes me doubt if it's a black rhinoceros, but I could not see his mouth wide.
What do you think?
Thank you very much.

Your first appears to be grazing which would indicate a white rhino but I am far from being an expert.

There are other subtle differences between the two species that I haven't got around to learning yet.

I agree with saraf that your first photo is of a white rhino and I think that the second one is a black rhino, but then I'm also no expert :)

Thank you Arks and Saraf.
I wait more opinions.
I put some more pictures of both specimens to see if we facilitate identification.
Thank you very much to all.

The first one.

Good Morning Spanishwolf.

All 4 pics are white Rhinos. Definately no black Rhinos there. I'm not sure if you have ever seen a Black Rhino before but when you do it will be very obvious. The Black Rhino is hlaf the size of your 1st pic and the dark light coloration is probably due to the one having taken a dust bath in light sand. Then the fact that the 1st Rhino is grazing and not browsing makes it a clear white and the lips in the pics are very square i.e. White. A black Rhino has a very small pronounced 'hook' lip.

Hope that helps.....

Hello Ferdelance.
I never saw a black rhino before. This year will go back to Kruger, to see if I have luck with the black rhino.
Thank you very much for your reply.
A greeting.
