GM, Kruger jams are also stressful for our little duo. SO is like you, wants to get away as fast as possible and as far as possible. He is waaaaay to considerate to the others in the 'jam' too, and will let them in front of us and so on.

I do not want to miss a thing, so want to see what the excitement is about, and if it is a reasonable sighting try and get some pics, so happy to 'elbow' my way into the centre of the fray

Sooooo DB, perhaps the most reasonable lies in between to satisfy both parties – always visit Kruger north of Letaba camp and drive the routes least traveled and the duo is very happy (well sort of)

We stopped one day to check out a possible sighting just near Lower Sabie camp. It turned out to be a "I-thought-I-saw-rus". But as you all know this is a very busy part of KNP so there was very soon a traffic jam around us so we "played the game" and continued to point excitedly into a thick bush and claim we could see lion there. Naughty I know, but the other cars had parked us in so we decided to have some fun

I can remember when Heksie was driving me around Paul's plaas once upon a day, and a build up of cars could be seen yonder by the grass flats South of Afsaal Now we know the usual game of 'calling' what the cause is of the jam? Heksie goes for her usual call - leopard; while I went with Rhino ... however neither were close to the truth. The cause of cars was on account of blue wilderbeest and zebra!! I had to pinch myself just to check if sanity had forsaken me But strue's Bob cars were parked off and it seemed that Krugerians had taken up a sudden interest in watching common game for long periods Just to be sure, we asked the nearest car what they saw, to which they replied "Zebra and wildebees' in a matter of fact tone Well it was a great day for Krugz

Heksie and I proceeded to perplex followers as we stopped religiously at every tree along the riverine roads to conduct our March Golden Orb census

Cheets do you remember the PCG sighting on the S65? A lot of laughs we had with only us seeing him and there where about 6 cars searching

Once I was driving on the Skuk/LS highway and got fed up with all the big 5 hunters come speeding towards us to join in the action whenever we stopped to look at anything interesting, be it a bird, tree or mammal. I decided to teach them a lesson.
I stopped at a herd of impala concealed in some delagoa thorn trees, rolled down the windows, got out the binoculars and camera and pretended to be very excited. They soon demanded what we were looking at where as I explained in an excited whisper "If you look carefully beyond that thorn tree about 20 metres into the bush you will see an Impala ram". The looks on their faces was as priceless as seeing a leopard.

Often when I stop the car to pour coffee and watch the sunrise or what have you, people want a legitimate reason why you are stopped there! So when they ask: "what do you see?" it is always nice to say: "bush" "Lovely bush in these parts! "

LOL Canis your story makes me think of the time I did a similar thing I was getting irritated with these people behind me who everytime I stopped to admire the general game weren't impressed with me well I decided to start my own roadblock and get rid of them all so I passed them all with a long line of cars behind me I drove and then suddenly hauled anchor and braked well seeing my reaction of braking in such a hurry and grabbing my cam they all demanded to know what Id seen so I told them a leopard has just run in front of the car and into the thicket I made as if I was still interested and then made an excuse of needing the loo desperately and if any of them get a photo to email it to me I even gave them my email add and drove away the whole road was blocked with everyone looking for my so called leopard and SO and I got to have a comfortable drive laughing all the way back to camp LOL

Also helps to always have your Roberts open on the dash, even when looking at a Leopard in a tree.
