Hi

we came on this track on the S119 on our last trip and I'm afraid its not the best pic but Hubby and I were very curious about what this could be. It was in the middle of the road with no prints of any kinda on either side.

We originally thought it was an Ellie dragging his Truck and that was when we looked for foot prints and realized there were no Ellie sized prints. Than we thought maybe a cat dragging a kill and again looked for smaller foot prints but still nothing. We then thought maybe snake but it was pretty big about 30cm across and I am not sure if a snake could make that size track and if it was where did it go cause this was the only track like this on the road in either direction, we did the backwards and forwards to see if we could find more and there was none. It was about 2m long and just ended. Leaving us thinking there is no way it was a snake cause any snake big enough to leave this track would leave another as it headed off to the side of one of the road or where it came onto the road. It just started and ended abruptly.

I have no clue about this, I am not sure this is the correct place to put this but it does not fit under any of the other sections that I can see.

Can anyone help us identify this please? :hmz:

Thanks

Could it be a snake of some thought that magically appeared and disappeared?

Tk, I am sure it is a caveman dragging his mate to the den, it is her feet that is making the double marks thats all I can think of. :hmz:

Strange indeed. :hmz:

Could it be an elephant with a branch in its mouth, walking some distance from the road. The branch touched the ground at the bottom of the picture and was picked up again at the top of the picture, at the stage where the elephant was sensing that the branch was dragging on the ground. I first thought that it may be a mud flap of a vehicle, but that will not explain the zig-zag pattern.

Could it be a trickle of "liquid" poured from a car / truck

Not trying to be snotty or funny.

How about a lion or leopard wiping its bum on the road like housecats do on a carpet? I expect it's possible for big cats to do that too?

Cavemen, magical snakes and cats wiping butts ...shoeeewee not the kinda responses I expected.  I never thought to check the side of the road, kicking my butt now I did not. I'm thinking maybe the ellie with a branch makes the most sense.

Ok if you had to take the fact that it starts and ends mysteriously out of the equation what would you think it was if you don't agree with the Ellie theory? No track marks around it big or small, just clean sand after the rain the night before.

Drag marks? Snake?

I love track spotting and Hubby often get the "STOP" yell from me when I stop an interesting track, I don't know what they are half the time but I enjoy looking, taking pics and speculating about them. :P

Maybe bored little Johnny was trying to see if he could make his teddy bear do some sand surfing. That was before daddy gave him a klap.

I would say with near certainty that it is a snake. It is just too typical for a snake track. It is exactly the same width all along. why it just stops i dont know; but maybe if a car track went over both ends if the snake twisted leaving only that track that we see.

But definitely a snake track of some sort in my opinion

Based on your previous posts I am not hopeful you do hey. Lol let me guess a flying unicorn carrying a ogre with a gimpy leg that dragged along the floor while the poor unicorn battled to fly.
