Oh, and the night drives start at 8pm and last for 2 to 2.5 hours, depending on the sightings and the weather

Yip, they do. Although I believe sometimes the small vehicle goes out from BnD. It's unlikely that a small truck will go from Satara.

But never say never ... and Satara is prime cat territory.

A word of warning. It can get very cold on an open vehicle once the sun has set. No matter how hot it might be, take a warm jacket and hat.

I hope you have a great time.. enjoy each moment.

Thanks! I already have confirmation from SanPark booking agent, for a Night Drive from Pkop :D

I'm already enjoying this trip. I love to plan ahead, even if it doesn't turn out the way I've planned it :P

Hi Avanoc,

Welcome to the Forum. Glad you are getting excited and planning ahead to your trip. In December when visiting P/Kop we did a sunset drive. It's my favourite type of drive it is split between the last light of the day and then also driving back in the dark. Be sure to pack a warm top as the air chills a bit after the sun drops down. Also take a water bottle along. Circa 3 hours is a long time.

Good luck with planning and packing.

I prefer sunset drives from either camp.

Sunrise drives can also be excellent.

No guarantees for any drive. Like Graeme Pollock used to say "Timing is everything".

I really think its a personal choice!

Sunset drives gives you the best of both worlds.
Never been on a night drive so can't comment too much on those.

Why not do a sunset one at CB and a night drive at LS! 8)

Thanks, that's great saraf. Torn between sunset drive in Berg en Dal and Satara. I'm used to the smaller vehicles - I'm guessing both those big camps use the larger ones with more people onboard?

We did drives from Lower Sabie, BnD and Satara in July on all occasions we had a Big truck no small safari vehicle.

Only when we did the morning walk from Satara we had the small safari jeep(because the group is smaller).

If you have the big truck you have a better view because it's higher than the average cars, and you may shift seats en sides when it's parked at a sighting, in the little jeep you must remain seated.

Both BnD and Satara are great for Game Drives

I am taking the family to Kruger from 18th to 28th October staying at Berg-en-Dal and Skukuza camps.

We would like to book some game game drives but we are having difficulty deciding whether to book sunrise or sunset drives.

Which of the two camps have the best game drives and do you recommend sunrise or sunset drives

Thanks Mike & Zita :D
