Hi James. Thank you. We were very lucky.

The first one was on the H1-2 towards Thsokwane just after the Maroelaloop turnoff.
The second was on the H7 towards Orpen. 7km before Orpen.
The third is on the H1-3 towards Satara just after the baobab tree.

Most of the other Leopards were seen near Lower Sabie, The mystical Balule Leopard at Olifants while sitting on our stoep, H1-1 a few. S1 3 on 1 trip.

MPL, next time I'm up in Central Kruger I'm following you

Agreed. Most of our leopard sighting have been around Lower Sabie. The H1-4 has been very good to us over the years. Croc Bridge and Biyamiti have also been great for leopard.

Wow Stoffel, sounds like you've had some unbelievable luck over the years. What I like about all your sightings is that you guys stayed put and waited. I think that's the trick, if there is any sign of a predator in the area, I say hang around and see what happens. Patients is the key!

Thanks for sharing

Just ran across a picture of "the great escape" from my earlier top 3 leopard sightings posting! Image

In 31 years of visiting KNP, Sharifa and I have seen well over a hundred leopards. Every leopard sightings is very special. So what are the hot spots for leopards. In our experience these roads:

The H3 from Malelane right up to Jock Of the Bushveld Camp
The S114 from its starting point in the south right up to Renosterkoppies Dam
The S139 Biyamiti Road
The S25
The S28 and H4-2
The Maroela Loop
The H1-2 running parallel to the Maroela Loop
All the roads around Satara S100, H7, S12, S127, H1-3, H1-4
The Northern Red rocks Loop - S52
The Mahonie Loop - S99

Our record for a trip is 10 leopards but it was a 15 day trip. We have been blessed when it comes to leopard.

So which are the top three. Well I do not have any photos for what is the best leopard sighting for me.

It is December 1984 and Berg en Dal is a new camp. We entered from Numbi and on our way to B & D, on the H3 just south of the Matjulu Bridge, Miss Sharifa says stop leopards

:hmz:  Leopards like in more than one,

 like in the blazing December Heat.

Three leopard cubs, probably about six months old, that joie de vivre age, frolicking in a tree

We spend an hour with them and were the only car and on the way to B & D told oncoming cars to look out for them.

But that one does not count, no photos, so the top three with photos

In third place is the Princess and her Prince.

Just south of the northern intersection between the S28 and H4-2 is a bridge over the Mativuhlungu River
We had seen a female leopard sitting on the rocks on 09 April 2009 but this sighting was on the 17 December 2010 when the Princess was once again sunning/cleaning herself on the rocks

and then the Prince appeared from nowhere

and gave us an eyeful

No 2 and No 1 coming soon

Very nice sightings mites. I remember well the two leopards we watched on the bridge oposite of Nsemani dam. It was our first visit back in septmeber 2001, on the first morning after our first night in Satara. There were two, I think a female with a grown up cub. They were jumping in and out of a tree, feeding on an male impala.
No sharp pics, but a claer memory. And highly addictive as last march we celebrated our 10th visit.
Since 2001 we had several sightings, mostly half visible or to far off for a good pic.
On two occasios we were lucky. The first was in may 2009 when we met the local leoapard at Sirheni and two days later a leopard walking on the H7 very near Satara ( our favorite main camp)

And in november 2012 our best sighting ever, a cub feeding on a baby warthog. I posted them in 2010 with the story, here are a few pics. It all happened on the H 4-2. 10 ks north of Croc Bridge, on a cloudy morning at 11.00. A very memorable day, as hours earlier we spotted lions and the cheetah brothers that were hanging around the place.
