Comedians of the bush

On some occasions in the kruger national park one does come across some interesting events that provide entertainment and laughter. The comedians of the bush, they usually come out of no where and provide plenty of laughter for the occupants of the cars in view.

We have experience on a few trips some sightings that have reduced us to tears. One occasion was when some rutting impala males were going at it and the one got distracted after a tree branch became his new opponent whilst his challenger watched with a blank expression that could only have said “you are an embarrassment”. Another animal, a bird this time, which has been the butt of our joke, whose name I cant remember, has this big build up in its mating call only to reach its climax with what sounds like a rain drop. The build up involves the entire body preparing for this massive release of energy only to be a little “pop”. After seeing this bird perform his ritual we burst into laughter at his expense which I think threw off his confidence as a mate was no where in sight.

Another comical animal to watch that provides load of entertainment are the primates in the kruger. The youngsters and juveniles are always worth a watch with there shenanigans and playfulness.

There’s always a lighter, funny side in the bush and my stories can’t be the only ones. Post your stories and lets find out who the real comedian of the bush is

I also love watching the primates. I remember an episode near Satara I nearly wet myself. The young baboons were playing I am the king of the castle. They were climbing up this tree and pushing each other off. It got to the point where one was hanging on the tail of another. They are priceless. The little baby Monkees are the best we had three on tghe road one behind the other. They looked like See no evil hear no evil and speak no evil. They also ran to the side of the road and we watched in amazement as a young impala bent down and appeared to lick the oine baby.

There is just so much to see and watch many people miss so much by rushing off.

I also love watching the primates, but all animals can give moments of entertainment.

I often have birds attack the strange bird in my side mirror. How dare this opponent invade my territory. :rtm:

Impies and primates often group together for safety. I once watched a young monkey try to "play tag" with a rather confused impala. Impalas really don't have the highest animal IQ and being touched again and again by this cheeky monkey was just too much.

My favourite, always, are the ellies having fun in dams. What joy 8) Can anyone ever leave without smiling?

Oh dear, and as much as they are a pest, watching baboons and monkeys plan a theiving expedition is rather amusing. They leave us looking silly as they take advantage of that split second of distraction.

We saw this lone buffalo bull , ambling down the road towards us , when suddenly he stopped , turned aside , backed over a small mopani shrub , and then , backwards and forwards , backwards and forwards , scratching and rubbing his testicles . This was so funny to look at , and especially the " look " on his face :)

Man , what a relief
