I just saw that lions attacked a buffalo on the satara webcams one hour ago - here is a pic from haileyidaho - thank you for saving it!!!



Did anyone see it live at satara and can report from it? Did they manage to kill the buff?? Must have been a fantastic experience to stand at the fence just a few meters away from it

The one Lion does look rather skinny, or is it my imagination?

I also think they look very skinny MM. Although I am glad they got something to eat, I am so glad I was not at Satara this morning. I honestly don't want to see it.

I agree, Hilda. It does look as though it was rather quick though. I hope it was an old dagga boy who was nearing the end of his life.

You can't be a meat eater without things dying.

Why am I not there??

Well this takes me back to September 2010 when I stayed in Satara for a few days and the one morning just before 5 got woken by the distress calls of a baffalo. I got up and woke my brother to tell him that theres some action very close to camp.

As we got to the gate we were among the first to see the kill that the lions made right next to the cam waterhole to the right of the cam. Just outside view of the cam. The lions were then already full and moved off and then hyenas got hold of the kill.

Wondering whether this is the same lions? A habbit of seeing a an animal that is lying or drinking water as easy approach to a kill.....

I see the hyena is already waiting... the visitors in Satara are going to have awesome sightings (and smell ) for the next couple of days

OH wow - what a treat for the visitors at Satara. Wish they had waited just a month for when I will be there

Maybe they will make it their take away venue for a while Suebfly and we will see them around there more

on BBM it is said they are three males. Does anyone know any more?

I can't imagine that pride males would be bothered to take down a buff on their own if they have the ladies

i would take a chair, some cold drinks and sit the whole day there...think there are lots of hyaenas, vultures and jackals around and maybe a leopard tried his luck in the late afternoon hours Wonder where they took the buffalo?? A live report from satara would be great
