Location: Germany (Bühl) - but dreaming of Africa!
I´ll do Metsi-Metsi in September next year (I know, still along time  ) and am already really excited about that!

Will be my first trail.

So far I had experiences with rhino and ellie while on foot.
I find it very thrilling to know that anything could happen in terms of animal encounters...

Good Day, I see that the age limit for Wilderness Trails in Kruger is set at 65. Just how rigid is this rule? A friend has just turned 65 and I will be 65 in August - we would like to book for September. Many thanks.

AFAIK, if you are fit and bring a recent doctor's certificate to 'prove' it, it is acceptable.

And welcome to the forum!

Hi

Unexpectedly I have the opportunity to spend 12 days Joburg, . My plan is to dedicate most of the time to KNP, leaving maybe 2 or max 3 to Joburg.

Since Wilderness Trails start on Wednesday/Sunday I won't be able to do 2. In the last days I've surfed here, tripadvisor etc etc and still cannot decide which Wilderness Trail.

Sweni/Satara seems to have great scores, but also Bushman/Berg-en-Dal.

I feel like a child in a candy store, cannot choose

All suggestions appreciated

Cheers
/HB

Hi and welcome to the forums, HB :D

You could read Wilderness Trails-General Advice and on the KNP Activities & Sightings Index page, you will find topics on specific trails.

Happy reading and planning !

Hello there . I have been on three ( al different) but again very difficult which one was best because they all were . Bushmans has its own waterhole and you are taken up a hill to see bushman paintings We saw a fair wmount and were with metres of a black rhino , Buffalo and Elephant,
On the Sweni we walked further and also saw a fair amount of game even an old Lion trundling on his way ..ignored us .
The last was nylaland but I have a feeling that one is not up and running yet after the floods . Now that we saw lion hyena and walked up a few hills . the view of the Gorge from a height was superb . So which ever you choose it will be great .

Tough choice .... I have done Bushmans and it is a great hike in terms of interesting paintings and many buffalo, rhino (if there are still that many around  ) and even elephant sightings. Sweni was my first choice because of it being in lion country but we couldn't get it. I have no regrets so I am sure either will be good!

Hi
If you can get a booking do any of the trails. They are all special and very different I have done most of them a few times accept the 2 in the south, Bushmans and Wolhuter. I love Olifants and Nyalaland.
You will enjoy them all!

I'm going on a back-to-back wilderness trail in April next year, but hesitate between the Sweni and the Metsi trail. Is there a difference in terms of animal viewings, camp location, etc. The Sweni trail seems to the more popular one but I wonder why that is.
