We actually found the other 4 people from the forum to do the bush braai with us.

Another way (via the forum) to find people is to look up the thread "when will I find a yellow ribbon in Kruger" and look for other members who are going to be in the same camp as you (at the same time). Is so then try a PM to them asking if they would like to join you. Does this make sense.

I hope it all works out.

Thanks! I wasn't familiar with that section of the forum. I'll check into that. I just got my yellow ribbon this weekend. So we'll be displaying it!!

As someone else suggested keep an eye on the Topic Here for any members who might be staying in LS at the same time and then approach them and see if they would be interested in joining in.
And of course by that time there may very well be others who have booked.
Good luck.

So we had a bush braai in Lower Sabie and it was a very good experience.

So much so that when we return in May we will be doing so again. As ever a party is way better if you have more than 3 people doing the Boogie. :bcool: :bcool: :bcool:

So who is with us on 14 May 2014. I don't bite, but I can't vouch for my two travel companions.

The Highlight of the last Bush Braai we did was the panic in the eye of one of the German girl at the table as we were nibbling away at our food. 'What eyes are those', :sup:  She was a bit nervous so I didn't want to admit that I saw the Hyena a few metres away.

Dingaan and his guys quietly walked between us to help the hungry and inquisitive manimal on its way. But the full story of that night and also our trip, please read the TR my SO is compiling viewtopic.php?style=2&f=27&t=76350

Time to bump this topic again.

For those wanting to add a Bush Braai please email Lower Sabie to do so. They'll need details of your existing reservation. Best to send your email to patiencem@sanparks.org, Patience Mabaso is the Duty Manager and she has to approve the request before it can show on your reservation as confirmation.

I hope this helps make the process of joining us on 14 May @ L/Sabie.

Happy Forum reading and exploring.

Hi to everyone booked for the Bush Braai on 14th May at Lower Sabie. We chatted to one of the guides tonight (Lungu) and he knew all about our booking, so the Bush Braai is on. Yay!
Had an awesome Sunset drive tonight with Lungu and this is what we saw:
Ele Breeding Herd
Giraffe
White Rhino
Spotted Thick-Knees
Zebra
Buffalo
Warthogs
2 x Black-backed Jackals
3 x Small Spotted Genets
1 x Civet
3 x Porcupines
16 lionesses with 10 cubs
2 x Hippo grazing
2 x Spotted Eagle-Owls
Verreaux Eagle-Owl (Giant Eagle Owl)
Bronze-winged Courser
Wild Dogs
Scrub Hares
Night Jars
Impala
Hooded Vulture
White-backed Vulture
Tawny Eagle
Marabou Storks
1 x Steenbok
2 x Burchell's Coucals
Crocodiles
The lionesses and cubs were awesome and feeding on a hippo. Best sight we have ever seen.
Looking forward to the Bush Braai on the 14th.

Hopefully once the new restaurant is up and running at Letaba they will be offering the bush braai's.

Not sure re Olifants currently but also once new franchise is open they possibly will as well.
Best to write to them and ask.

I can confirm BnD are still doing them.....I was asked to assist with one last night! (Unfortunately was in Nelspruit and not back in time though).

Hi Trailrunner, We aren't very experience on this but happy to explain what we do! On our previous visits we have done braais from Skukuza, Satara and Mopani, all braais were a fantastic experience but for us Satara provided the best game viewing on the drive there and back. But, I am the first to admit we were lucky with right place right time with the animals, I am sure a different night our game viewing experience would have been just as good at the other braais.

We always try to arrange the braais before we go, only because there is this need for 4 people and we have chance via this forum beforehand to ensure we have at least 4'people wishing to go. As I said we have always been successful via the forum in arranging this and indeed met some fantastic people this way. I am trying to contact someone at Satara to see if they already have a braai running on any of the days we are there, if so, that makes it easy for us as we will just add ourselves to that, otherwise I will also advertise on the forum to see if anyone would like to join us to make up the numbers.

Good luck and I hope you manage to join a bush braai, I can thoroughly recommend it

Hi Merlin

I have been informed that the bush braai is arranged with the camps as the guests need to go for drive first before going to the venue where the meals or braai will be served.

The guests must book with the camp and the camp will notify Wissah. Please contact the camp directly. Thanks.

Hi everyone
My family and I would love to experience a Bush Braai whilst at KNP in February 2015. I have been reading through this thread and would love to know which is your favourite camp for attending a Bush Braai?
Although we make up the minimum number of 4 to book we would love for others to join us :D
We will be at the following camps
Lower Sabie 11 & 12 Feb
Satara 13 & 14 Feb
Olifants 15 & 16 Feb
Skukuza 17 Feb

Many thanks for sharing... :)

Hoping to arrange a Bush Braai while in Kruger during October, has anyone heard if they are being held at Olifants? Sounds like they are at Satara, so hopefully we can participate while at one of these camps.

Try sending an e-mail to the camp Normana requesting one for your dates.
but remember there must be a minimum of 4 people.
