Hi we have had about 3bush braais over the years and they were all wonderful with a great evening driver before hand. Most camps need at least 4 and sometimes 6 to prebook. If only 2 of you ask at reception when you arrive. Have a great time. We know we will

We did one a couple of years ago at Berg en dal which was most enjoyable. There was just the 3 of us and we were lucky enough to have ecojunkie as our guide for the evening, which made it even more memorable! If you have any questions about the Berg en dal bush braai's she may be able to help you out.

Are drinks included in the R420 price per person, of the bush braai?

Seems like the only drinks included is coffee and tea if I read this page correctly, Bush Braais, it does state on that page that a cash bar is available.

We ordered the drinks we required (we were not great drinkers) a few beers and savanna's so that the guys knew our preferences and didn't have to cart to much out into the bush..

If you contact the camp manager directly it should be possible to arrange a 'special' bush braai. A week ago I drove just 2 guests, and the man had arranged beforehand it was to be only them. Weather did not cooperate......but they still had rose petals on the table etc as requested, courtesy of Stephen Nel and some inventive alternative arrangements in the end.

Hi Guys,

Looking for recomendations on which camp we should do bush braais and walks from in January

We are visiting Satara, Talamti, Pretoriouskop and Lower Sabie.

If you have done any of these activities at these camps please let me know what your preferences would be at those camps. Buish braai or walks.

Thank-you

I have never 'walked'at those camps, but my batting order would be LS, Tal, Sat & Pkop.

Bush braais, have a minimum number so if you are below it (4 I think) take what you can get, otherwise Sat, LS, Pkop & Tal.

I would also say it depends on how long you have at each camp. You do not want to book a bush braai on your first day - you are too tired after the trip to get there. If you have a long drive between camps the same applies.

Do not book a walk for the day after your arrival, or after the bush braai for the same reason. You want to be rested to enjoy it fully.

Remember even the best place can have off days - and the worst can still surprise and give the wow factor! This is Kruger and you never can predict what will happen!

We will be at Mopani for the easter week-end. As this coincides with our wedding anniversay I am wondering if we should take the plunge and spend on a bush braai :hmz: Would like to hear from any who have done this recently - what's it like - what kind of food/drink is supplied? - We are a bit nervous because we have stopped going on sunset drives as they have for our pocket become expensive and not enjoyable. The last one we had out of Punda Maria 2 years ago was far too rushed. The last good one we went on was out of Letaba - about 10 yars ago!

I think everyone should at least do one bush braai during their lives.

It is a totally different experience and I have had a lovely one from Letaba a good number of years ago.

All food are supplied for you. Then there is a usually a small "cash bar" available. But I am pretty sure that you can take your own drinks and additional snacks. Enquire about that prior to your booking.

Yes yes yes - do it! We did one from Olifants in September last year and it was the highlight (ummmm well- one of many) of our trip. A truly magical experience. A sunset drive followed by rather scary candle lit walk through the bush to the boma where we were treated like royalty. Ate with the informative and friendly ranger who we bombarded with questions, all of which were patiently answered. Food was fine but all the better for being eaten outside on the riverbank with the amazing starscape and night time bush noises. We took our own drink but could have bought from the bar. Will most definitely do it again when back in September this year - can't wait!
