Have any members experienced any problems when renewing existing membership?

I did recently, and after experiencing difficulty in renewing, the operator told me to try the "new application" I did this successfully, as he said that he would link to the old number.
I assumed that I would be sent a new card, so the old card was destroyed.

After waiting and not receiving a new card, I called the old faithful help line and was politely informed that I would now have to pay R100?? I explained that it was not my fault that their web site was faulty!!, The operator(Nokuthula) turned a deaf ear and escalated the call to Kanyisa James (her boss), she promised to check it out and call back,5 days later today Mon 14th Apr 14) she called to ask for my membership num? I called her back and told her that it was all on record andwhy bother me? This indicates a problem within the admin. She replied via email, it was clear that they had not understood what the problem was after reading my email, because she simply repeated in "robotic" fashion YOU MUST PAY FOR A NEW CARD?? God help South Africa, W :roll:w hat happened to all the intelligent" help line operators" in the country??

LeonRoberto,

I am going to move your post over to the Wild Card forum that we have set up to deal specifically with Wild Card problems.

Please could you confirm that it was one that had your name embossed on it? If so it should not have been destroyed. Since the new scheme Wild Card have only issued one card, personalised with the holder's name. They will only issue a replacement card if you can prove that you never received your original card. If the person at the Help centre advised you to do so then this is a training issue and needs to be rectified immediately.

Please PM me your Wild Card details and a contact email address so the Wild Card personnel can contact you.

Because you are a new member and are putting in links and smilies (smilies count as links). The forum is coded that way to prevent valuable time being wasted by weeding out spammers. And we get a lot of them. It is not personal.

LeonRoberto,

Please remember that the moderators on this forum are not employed by SANParks, and are rather volunteers who give up their time freely to make sure that this forum is a pleasant place to be for all of us. They will address your issue, and liaise on your behalf to attain a satisfactory resolution.

I understand your frustration, but please withhold your misdirected criticism and sarcasm as they do not deserve it.

I really tried to bite my tongue on this one, and maybe I should have but I felt that this really needed to be said.

LeonRoberto,

This is your opinion and subjective

You should have taken your own advice
(I really tried to bite my tongue on this one, and maybe I should have but I felt that this really needed to be said. as it was not directed at you, and if they are volunteers, that's nice, but they must deal with it one way or another. Nothing changes if one is a volunteer, or receives remuneration.
As for the comment and I quote "I understand your frustration, but please withhold your misdirected criticism and sarcasm as they do not deserve it", you are extremely sensitive and misunderstand the context of the complaint, it obviously is not directed at them, they replied on their own volition, and in my opinion it is not misdirected! Now go and have a nice day porrige and do not spend too much time on this forum, it is bad for one's health.........kindest regards......Leon

Welcome to the forum LeonRoberto.

I trust that as you contribute more you will come to enjoy your time here.

Pity you had to start with something that needs to be cleared up once & for all.

Wildcard renewal should be seamless but still appears to be fraught with problems.

Mine expired recently. I will renew it next time I visit a SANPark, which will be soon.

For someone who is requiring assistance you are certainly winding up a lot of people. For what it's worth I have found a little bit of sugar rather than a lot of vinegar has won me more assistance when I've needed it.

I have passed your query and details onto the relevant people at Wild Card. This thread will now be locked as there is no further help we can give you.

As a general note and I am repeating myself here.

Only one of the personalised Wild Card will be issued to an applicant.

In the event of lost cards an administration fee of R100 will be charged to cover the cost of producing a new one.

If you never received a personalised card, please contact Wild Card and ask for one to be sent. If you have any problems please PM me with your membership details and a contact email address and I will forward your details.
