How do you renew the New Wild Card?

Unread postby Son godin » Sun Aug 07, 2011 7:41 pm

I've just received my new Wildcard this week, but unforetunately it will expire in 4 weeks time. Can you renew your New Wild card at any park or can you only do it on-line.

The on-line system just throw one back to SANParks website and provide no link to renew. The only link is to update details but I do not want to update my details. I only want to pay for the next year and hopefully receive a Wild Magazine as well.

Previously I've done all my payments at the gates and would like to know if this will be the same norm for the new Wild cards. Is there anyone that already had to renew their yearly fees on the new Wildcard?

I read a complaint about some-one who could not renew their cards at Kruger and had to pay the conservation fee. My first visit using my New Wild Card will be to Mapangubwe in October when my new card will have expired.

Son Godin, I have bought the new Wild Card at Augrabies. I am sure that you can renew it as well at any main camp or gate.

We have only just received the New Wild card and you want us to know how to renew it

Son Godin, I'll try to get an answer for you, but the Wild Card people are extremely busy and don't always respond as quickly as we might like them to. And I don't think they work weekends.

I just checked the Wildcard links as it seemed unlikely that there was no way to renew.

If you choose the 'purchase wild card' option, then at the top of the boxes to be completed is one saying 'if you had a previous card then fill in number' (or something very similar!).

So that is the way to renew the card. Prices are the same, etc, so there is no need for them to have a separate page for renewal.

Have you read the entrance permit? Do you KNOW the Conditions of Entry?

Actually, work is being done at that part of the site, I'll have a look if renewing is included.

Checked, there is/will be a renewal page as it is now. But it's a design only at the moment.

Hi Ecojunkie,

Thanks for the reply. I had a look on the website and were only thrown back to the earlier page I've update in Nov 2010. If you follow the link at the top "Get a Card" followed by "Buy Now" you get to the two options of "Buy the Card" or "Renew the Card". When choosing "Renew the Card" you get to the follow page below:

Update Wild Card Details
In order to update your data you need to request an authorization code that will be sent to you via email or sms. Click on "Request your code" to request your code. Once you have received your code you can click on "Enter authorization code" to enter your code and update your data.

Request authorization code
Enter authorization code

I am just confused about the instruction in this link. :? I do not want to update my data, but will this link take me to the payment section or can I do it at SANParks reception at the gate. I will prefer paying at the gate, because one will receive proofment of payment immediately. Call me old fashion, but after waiting for so long only to receive a card last week that wil expire on 10/09/11, I would rather pay at a teller than on-line.

DuQues,

Thanks for the feedback. If they can change or add to the current design it will be helpful and maybe when I will try to renew next month the link will work fine.

I still would like to know if payment can be done at SANParks reception and in particular Mpangubwe.

Thanks.

That should be no problem at all, just like buying one there.

Hi Ecojunkie,

I've just decided to go for the "Buy" link instead of "Renew" and come across the line where you can fill in your previous number and the added section to completed credit card details. The only problem is that you must still complete all info so I am not 100 % convince if this is the way, because it might happen that they will issue me a new number and card. And then I will wait a few months again before I have a valid card going through the process of using a confirmation letter. Maybe I am wrong but sometimes one just becomes a bit sceptical and stop believing in magic :wiz: (maybe off the topic, but I just want to add some of those new smiles. They great.)

Hope it all goes smooth with the renewal and enjoy your trip. I prefer to do all my transaction and reservations via internet, but the face-to-face contact is always the best if you want to be 100% sure you understand the instructions correct or opposite. Good luck.

I will be on gate duty again tomorrow morning, and will try to remember to ask about this then.

Hi Son godin

Our recently received new Wild Card also needed to be renewed as it expires towards the end of this month.

I phoned the Wild Card Call Centre and was told to do the renewal on-line using the "Buy wild card" option.

I did this, enteriing our exisitng new Wild Card number and on completion of the process a message popped up giving me a new Wild Card number, and then I received an e-mail confirmation letter thanking me for buying Wild Card membership.

I sent an e-mail to Hein Grobler asking for clarification that the procedure followed was correct as I had expected that my exisitng new Wild Card would just be revalidated. I am still waiting for a response.

Seems a total waste of money if a new Wild Card is issued each time the card has to be renewed.

Regards

Linda

I checked with the gate officials yesterday......You can buy and renew your card at the gate or camp.
