WILDCARD FOR CHILDREN

Unread postby carolv » Sat Mar 05, 2011 6:40 pm

When we return to KNP in August we will be bringing our 10 year old grandson. So (Wildimage) and I have an International wildcard but do not know what we can do for Sam. Does anyone know if we can add him to our card (is current and not due for renewal before August) or will we have to buy him an International card. Not sure who is more excited about the trip and we are hoping someone will also be in KNP wioth similar aged child/children as Sam would love to meet others.

For everyone who has sent their best wishes and prayers over the last 2 years, Wildimage is doing well. His last biopsy was clear and he has just started another booster course of treatment

Great news

Best and cheapest option would be to change the WC in a family card

Dear Carolv,

Many thanks for the query and it is great that you are bring Sam to KNP in August. According to Wild Card policy, a grandchild may not be on a Family Wild Card of his/her grandparents. He/she may only be on the Family Wild Card of his own parent/s. He can obviously have his own Individual Wild Card or you can pay his daily conservation fees, depending on what is most beneficial. My best wishes to Wildimage and you wish you a most fruitful visit later this year. If there are any further queries, please let me know.

Kind regards.

Thank you for that info Joep. As Sam obviously does not have his own e-mail address or credit card, will we be able to buy his Wildcard when we arrive at KNP in August or will we have to buy it and have it sent to our own address. I know we cannot order it yet as he is awaiting his own passport and the passport number is reqd before applying for an International Wildcard.

Thank you for the good wishes for SO. It's amazing how the thought of another KNP trip has kept us going through some darker days and now it is finally marked up on the calendar, August cannot come quickly enough

Carol

August can be a terrific month carolv,

It is amazing what something to look forward to can do.

Yes, Carolv, you can acquire his WC online once you have a passport number and perhaps use the email address of his parents. Alternatively, you can indeed acquire at the parks upon arrival. The only problematic parks regarding this is Table Mountain where WC cannot be bought at all points of entry.

My best wishes.

We will be in Pretoriuskop from 12-15 Aug, our group will include 4 children (1 x 14 year old boy and 3 x 11 year olds; 1 girl and 2 boys), not sure which camp you will be in? if its the same then Sam is welcome to join the gang. And you 2 of course :P

We took friends of the children last year and had to buy extra individual wildcards for the extra children.

Thank you Joep. Sam's father left several years ago and his Mum only has a work e-mail so we will buy his WC when we enter at Malelane Gate. I do appreciate you passing on the info we needed.

IloveAfrica - Unfortunately we will not arrive until 16th August so we will not be able to meet up at Pkop. Thank you so much for the offer. However, if one of your children would be interested in having a UK penpal so they can exchange info as well as KNP sightings, Sam would be thrilled. Please pm me and I will pass on relevant info. I hope you will have a wonderful stay in KNP - so sorry we arrive the next day as we would have loved to meet up. Jazil has entered all our camps for our stay - we start at Berg en Dal, then Croc Bridge, Letaba, Shingwedzi, Mopani, Satara, Skukuza. Maybe next time!!

Carol and Richard
