Free Wild Card for over 70's

Unread postby erno » Mon Jan 24, 2011 1:33 pm

Will the new wild card be issued free to members once they turn 70 as was done with Infinity?

Welcome to the forums!

At this moment no one knows. Keep an eye on the the pages about the Wildcard for news, or of course the homepage of this site.

Dear Erno,

Many thanks for enquiry. Currently the whole loyalty rewards are being considered including benefits to senior citizens. As soon as this has been completed we will announce these and this is anticipated by about middle of the year.

Kind regards.

Joep, appreciate that this will take time but would like an answer to the following:

1. Current free Wildcard holder whose card expires within the next month - will the card be renewed free of charge?

2. A non Wildcard holder who is over 70, and who wishes to visit KNP by beginning May, will he be able to apply for a free Wildcard?

We could not obtain any answers to the above from either park or reservations staff.

Thanks for your help

Dear PNF,

Many thanks for the query. Your questions are not 100% clear to me but I will do my best,
1. If a Wild Card expires in the next month, the member would renew as per normal procedure, namely by applying online or at the parks upon arrival. I am unsure why you ask whether it "will be renewed free of charge"?
2. As benefits are under review and will be announced by middle of 2011. Therefore any person wishing to access national parks either purchase a Wild Card or pay the conservation fee.

I hope and trust that this answers your questions. If there are further questions or issues requiring further clarity, please do not hesitate to contact me.

Kind regards.

Hi Joep
Thanks for your answers but to clarify point 1:

A person, over 70, currently in possession of a FREE Wild Card (which was issued free some years ago because of his age) wishes to visit KNP during the next couple of months (before the new benefits are announced) - will his card still be valid or must he pay for a new card or conservation fees?

Many thanks, PNF, I now understand. Members in possession of Lifelong Wild Cards issued prior to changeover on 20 October 2010, will remain lifelong Wild Card members for as long as they live. These will be honoured and as soon as replacement Wild Cards are issued, such lifelong members will also be issued replacement Wild Cards accordingly.

Kind regards.

Hi Joep

Do you have an idea when the new wildcards will be issued?
