The Leopard who wanted to count her spots

Once there was a leopard whose name was Sheila who thought that she was the prettiest creature of all.

Then one day a snake came by and asked how many spots she had. She thought that question was easy. So she started counting. But as she tried to count she found that it was too hard for her. The snake asked if he could count her spots for her. But she was a bit scared of him.

So she went to look for other animals and found a rabbit. She asked the rabbit, “How many spots do I have”. But the rabbit got a fright because he thought that she was going to eat him. But she was told him not to be scared because she was only asking how many spots she had. So he started to count and said, “You have 2 spots’.

Then she counted her spots to see if he was right. So she counted like this, “1, 3, 6, 7, 10, 4, 2”. Even though she was as not very good at counting she knew she has more than 2 spots.

So she tried other animals but it was no use the other animals were also not very good at counting. They were all to scared of her to count properly.

So she went back to her tree and gave up. But she still wanted to know how many spots she had and so she thought she would give the snake a chance to tell her how many she had. So she went to the snake and asked, “How many spots do I have?”

The snake said in a sneaky voice “Let me see how many spots you have”. The snake came closer and closer and as he curled around her he counted, “1, 2, 3”

Sheila knew she was in trouble and she tried to call for help but no one was there to hear her. So she thought to her self that she must save her own life. So she bit the snake hard. The snake fell to the ground and slithered away. Sheila was so happy to be alive.

She ran away as far as she could and never ever asked any one ever again how many spots she had.
