Boks face a rocky challenge against Australia
This mountainous clash features Ayers Rock and the brutish Rocky Elsom needing to produce a supernatural effort to break the rock solid defenses of the Bokke who have thrown their powerful frames behind Table Mountain’s quest to be named one of the New7Wonders of Nature.
Many of the Bokke, including Bryan Habana, Jean De Villiers and Schalk Burger, live in the shadow of Table Mountain and as official ambassadors are uniting as a team to ensure the mountain beats all comers when the seven sites are announced on 11/11/11 (11 November 2011).
The contest, facilitated by the New7Wonders Foundation in Switzerland, aims to raise awareness of the variety and beauty of nature, and income generated through the campaign will ensure that these natural treasures are better preserved for future generations.
Besides the joy of getting one over Australia, Table Mountain being named one of the New7Wonders would also provide an increase in tourism. Grant Thornton, a leading tourism hospitality and leisure research company, calculated this would generate an additional R1.4 billion in revenue for the year and support about 11 000 employment opportunities in South Africa.
You can support the Boks in their role as Table Mountain ambassadors by SMSing “Table” to 34874 at R2 an SMS, visiting www.votefortablemountain.com, voting via Mxit for only 20 cents or voting on Facebook. If you vote via SMS or Mxit, you can vote as many times as you like.
Voting closes at 11:11am on 11/11/11 and the announcement of the Official New7Wonders of Nature will be made later that afternoon.
