It was hard to get up at 4:30. It was even harder when we realized it was raining. Soft, drizzling rain. We were to drive from CB to Skukuza. H4 is so famous road and we have miserable drizzling rain. Even that is better than being in JHB (and at work).
And the first thing ( 2-3 km from the gate ) was this. But the proud owner was not at home.

Only these guys were fighting for scraps. Soaking wet.
I did not tell you about an incident that happened yesterday, just after Skukuza. There was a dead Serval on the road. We stopped to take a picture but then changed our minds. He was looking so pitiful with its slim, small body long stretched legs and his teeth were sticking out. We felt so miserable, it was not necessary to spoil your day. Why, why people have to speed.,,
I have seen serval only twice in my life both times at night drives.
After the fighting episode we took S28. Wet and muddy. And THERE HE WAS. Another serval! Grass being wet he decided to do his ablutions in the middle of the road.
And still rain.
Eventually we managed to Skukuza ( with a breakfast stop at Nkhulu , and it was a good breakfast). Rain stopped but afternoon drive was un eventful except…

poor serval, How sad. Lucky you saw another.
I think it is the big delivery trucks that do a lot of damage to the poor animals

So glad to see you are back, even if it is just for a week
