Living My Dream Day 208 (LSabie Day 5)
Wow another late Good Evening again…but, I dont mind I met such nice ppl again this eve and its just such a thrill meeting all of you reading the blog! Liandi and Gareth thanks for coming around and a very Happy Birthday to you, sorry I could not come and join you for a meal tonight! So glad you got to see the Cheetah on the S28 and what nice pics you took of them! Neil and Theresa ..thanks for coming around…glad you did and also that you got to meet Denise, think that you will understand when I talk about her..such a lovely and interesting person! She really makes me laugh a lot! And before I forget, to Fathima and all other Muslims around the world..I wish you all Eid Mubarak!!
Engel glad you had a safe flight and hope you have a good sleep tonigh in Tokyo! Nice talking to you this eve…look forward to the next call tomorrow! I will try and get through the comments as quick as I can…back to nature, Im so glad you are enjoying the books by Tony Park…hopefully you will get them all…Im ashamed to say that I have not started reading his new one…Ivory..just had no time yet! Those worried and concerned about the lawless ppl…just know, Im not just fat and flab…Im very strong, I think…and if this guy had to try anything…I think I would have kicked him to the moon! Its unfortunate that these things do happen..and I think it happens on a daily basis…its not possible for Kruger (Sanparks) to have “policeman” on the road daily…but at Skukuza I have seen the traffic police directing traffic when they had a good sighting…all other camps dont have the resources and we have to live with a bit of this behaviour! Elsa and others, I have tried to bring this to the attention of the camp…not here at LSabie, but at others, and I wont blog about the response I got…just think its sad that ppl do get away with this and I sometimes wonder why I waste my time and breath as you dont always have cell phone signal and its very difficult reporting on the spot..maybe its time I also get arrogant…get out of my car and see what happens! Elsa I was also told last week that Duke was seen on the H5…I have not driven that road for the last week, but hopefully he will move closer to LSabie and I will have the priviledge of meeting him again! Chicco, I completely missed Silolweni dam yesterday…but Leeupan only had a bit of water…will try and get back that way in the next few days…Rusky I took the pic of the cuckoos jhust before sunset…thats why I love it so much..the light was just so nice..Thea so glad your wish was granted, I look fwd to meeting you too! Goldie and others asking for the cub…its about 6km from LSabie, but I think that the mom has moved the cub further up in the rocks…still visible when they come out…but not in the same place…PS Medium Rare and Bushbuddies, I quess I will see you this weekend…and Junette on the 16th…..Jennette, I have driven the Mlondozi loop, but still no Cheetahs, although others have seen them, maybe tomorrow..I dont knwo! Dawn I know all about the HB’s at Orpen, have experienced it first hand..I will be going to Maroela, which is the camping camp..and know will see HB’s there! No, the Orpen dam is far away for the cam at Orpen camp..where the webcam is is only a waterhole its not the same place. dadfap, you will see my wall of shame, just not know, I dont have the time to uplaod the pics to flickr and posting them on the forum…wont do it on the blog as I have just so many other pics to show instead of idiots..Gerda, what wise words you speak…you sound like Engel!!! Maureen, thanks for the warning…I will definately hide my beer away, that is the last thing that HB’s will take from me! Al the new readers, commentors and everyone else, thanks for your time!
I know I said quick, but it just so happened that there were a lot of comments…an hour later, here I am..not a very exciting day, but another day in Kruger, as most of you said before, is much better than a day somewhere else!
Many of you said yesterday to take the day off…no, I cannot, not yet…I will do one day while MIL (jaycee) is visiting, but in the meantime…Im here to bring you Kruger! Woke up at 4am, but again just lay in bed and listened to the sounds…then got up and made my tea…what a great morning it was, just so wished that I was out on the road to bring you a sunrise pic…but I enjoyed just sitting here, relaxing and thinking about what I say and what I do and how you all enjoy it…with that I could not get going..thought about the laundry and dishes that needed to be done…eventually at 6:30 I forgot about that and was on my way…going to look for Honey Badgers on the H10! Silly me again…think I have told you before that in Kruger you dont go looking for anything…it will show itself to you when the time is right!
My first sighting this morning scared me more than Macho man yesterday…this Goliath Heron had such a look around it when it chased the thick knees away…wonder if I look like that when I wake up???

I continued up the H10 and then some Hyenas, this one looked so lost, running up and down, Im not sure if it knew itself if it was coming or going!

and its mate like a lost soul saying where are you????

I did not find the Honeybadgers, or the Cheetah or the Serval….just lost of Elephants, 11 Rhino and a Klipspringer on the rocks..

and a little bird…

and made my way back to camp with lots more Rhino sightings, but not good enough to post a pic… Got back to camp just before 1pm…had lunch of chicken again…with salad…and snooze…by 2:30 I was up and had to do some laundry and also wash the dishes…while the laundry was going…I went to the pool and had a swim…it was really hot here today and the water was so cool for about 10 min…then back to the laundry…did the dishes and left camp again at 4:30!
As I did not go to the Leopard and cub this am, I really wanted to see what was happening there…wow, about 30 cars all blocking the road, it was really difficult to get coming or going….and I believe the mom was out with the little one putting on a show for those who could see again…I did not get to see it…I just drove past the jam and turned around…sorry I cant bring you any pics tonight…I think that if I want to see them again I need to go and park my car there from early am until they appear as that is the only way I have left to do it…so different to 5 days or so ago when we first discovered them…A very friendly couple who had a good view of them came past and the look on their faces was just so rewarding! So glad you got to see them and take “awesome” pics…they told me about lions just a few 100m away on the turnoff to the S28/….I went there, but they were in the bush and really not worth taking a pic…so I left…took a slow drive back to camp…and the only time I lifted my cam was for this baby Impala…I will take pics of them and show you until they are no longer babies, just think that Impalas also deserve their moment of glory…and this is it!!

No sunset today as its very cloudy and windy…so I returned to camp..and as you have read had some visitors…was going to make, and still did make, prego steak …but as its so late I just had a chicken mayo sandwich…still nice..and Im glad the chicken is now finished!
I hope you enjoyed this blog again…no cats or dogs, but just m in Kruger..hopefully tomorrow it will be more exciting..if not..just enjoy the moment!

Hi Martie,
It has been a while since I last commented but my SO and I never miss our daily fix of your blog. We love all your pics. People have spoken about the HB’s in the camps. The last time we stayed at Lower Sabie we had a hyena that used to come into the camp and turn the dustbins over. One night I heard the dustbin, opened the door of the caravan and there he was standing a few meters from the door. I hope that they sorted this problem out. Did you get your water pistol for the monkeys? Thanks for bringing the park into our homes, we are going to miss it when your year is up.

Hello Martie
It was so nice to meet you yesterday - just a pity we had no time to have a proper chat etc. Well, we are back a Ngwenya for 1 night only and then its back home to life’s other realities. Thanks again for all your hard work and effort - we ALL love reading your blog and the pictures make us drool! I am part of the group that is wondering what we are going to do when your trip over…
Enjoy your day at the office tomorrow - hah hah! Keep us posted on the Leopard & cub and the python.
Best wishes and have a great visit with your MIL.

Hi Martie
Back home again - but it feels strange. Everything is the same but I think I’m not. Woke up at 3:45 and thought “I must get up and going” then realised I’m at home. Hope you can get a chance to see the leoperd and cub - as I will now have to follow their progress through your blog. But the weekend is here - many cars and I think a lot of ppl know where they are. Hope you get to see those cheetahs on the H10.

Keep the blog coming whenever you can. Lovely pic of the Goliath Heron and I always enjoy looking at Impala. They are just so pretty, as are guinea fowl….

Morning Martie, what a lovely pic of the heron, that is what I look like in the morning!!! Like red backed shrike too. Did you ever find your bird book? We are not worried what you see in kruger as Pumba put it quite nicely. Have a super day and enjoy each one before holiday season starts!!!! Regards Chrissie.

Hallo Martie.
It’s always nice to see every thing when you go to Kruger, but it’s true what Pumba sayed “seeing animals is a bonus!”. Looking forward to the park. Have a nice and peace full day.

Martie, your blog is never boring even without cats or dogs!
Look at that lovely pic of you that you post first!
Hahahahahahahahahahahahahaha!!!!!
Joking!
If you love kruger, you will enjoy everything not just Cats or Dogs!
Birds are nice and a kruger experience is never fully Kruger if it does’nt have a hyena in it!!!
I will only comment on monday again so have a happy weekend and remember just CHILAX!!

Martie
true KNP lovers have had it with the “lawless lot” who should not have the privalige of being there.
I really think you should look at all your pics, choose the really BAD ones (must include “macho man”) and do a one off “name and shame” blog for the whole world to see. This will spark some serious interest and debate since you are our voice there.

G’Morning Martie,
Thanks for another lovely blog. When I got out of bed this morning I looked like that Goliath Heron - need a haircut! Lovely pics of the Hyena, Klipspringer, Impala lamb and Redbacked Shrike. Do you know that 2moro is Big Birding Day and you are likely to have many birders in Kruger trying to identify as many birds as possible within 24 hours - see how well you can do! Such a pity that, now you have divulged where the Leopard is, you can’t get there yourself but I am sure you feel happy that you have shown it to people like the friendly couple who you saw there. You will find many more exciting things which Kruger is to bring to you when you are in the right place at the right time! We had another stinking hot day yesterday, also hottest night, hard to sleep when you wake up perspiring! No aircon so had the fan on all night. Glad GW survived the move - how will he get the 600mm lens to you? Just imagine the pics you will bring us then - just eyeballs of elephants!!

Dagse Martie,
Lekker dag verder,
Faan en Rose.

Still reading your blog and still enjoying it - you have a way with words, not to mention pictures! Only 42 sleeps until we leave for SA and our long-awaited trip to KTP. The only draw-back is I won’t be able to see what you are up to until we get back mid-March!
Take care and stay safe - some people can be horrid!

Very nice article. I think I’m going to start reading your posts every morning while I have my breakfast. It will really put me in a good mood before I head off to work.
I love the outdoors.
Very impressed with all your pics. that little bird is a red-backed shrike right?
Can’t wait till my next visit to the park in march next year

Hello there, I am back at the valley again, left the farm this morning as I still have plenty to do before Monday. Ann is progressing well, walking with one crutch when she goes outside and without when indoors, but it will take about six weeks before she is completely mobile again and there is always such a lot of work on the farm raising hundreds of broiler chicks. If you say that you are going to take a day off when I am with you then your readers are going to blame me if they dont get their blog everyday ! ! Thanks for the phone call with the exciting news, I cannot wait for tonights blog . I am not taking my laptop away with me because I will not need it in the park and when I am with Jeannette and Susan I can use theirs. Keep safe xxx

Thanks for blogging Martie, always great to hear what your day in Kruger produces.
Now Jaycee has got me curious…..What does she know?? Exciting news!!! Are we going to hear about it tonight????
Happy holidays to her when she joins you on Monday.
Hope you, jaycee, have loads of great sightings and a good rest,(sounds like you could do with it- very busy)
And dont worry about not blogging everyday when you have family visiting you must enjoy yourselves. We will all survive, it will be tough, but we will pull through!

Hi Martie! we met you a couple of months back at shingwedyi and the other day again at the leopard sighting. it was so nice seeing you again. this is our first time commenting, however we have been reading the blog constantly! you will never know what it means to us that we can see Kruger in Pretoria when we cant be there. we only have two nights left in Kruger and then it is back to reality. how depressing. hopefully we will see you again before we leave. take care, Marelize and Hennie!

Hi Martie, what an interesting and entertaining blog, I thoroughly enjoyed it!!! The pic of that Goliath Heron - yikes! i’d run away from him!!!!
