Put your money where your feet go
Date: 10th April 2014
In November last year the SANParks Honorary Rangers of the Table Mountain Region, in conjunction with TMNP Management and a number of passionate trail runners launched an initiative called "Running for the Mountain." The primary objective was to raise funds through trail running club events for the on-going rehabilitation and maintenance of the Park’s many jeep tacks and trails.
"Running for the Mountain is a really exciting conservation partnership between trail runners and the SANParks Honorary Rangers. The tremendous support and good will of trail running clubs which run on the Mountain is making a huge difference to ensuring that trails are in good running order. They are showing their appreciation of this magnificent Park by putting their money where their feet go." said SANParks Honorary Ranger Sue Smith.
Now TMNP is using the 2014 Old Mutual Two Oceans Marathon as a platform to appeal to individual runners and corporates to get involved and "Put Your Money Where Your Feet Go." TMNP has put together a team of South African National Parks (SANParks) runners who will be moving billboards for the campaign during the 10km trail run and half marathon races.
Well-known SA actor and comedian, Siv Ngesi and SA Masterchef, Kamini Pather are joining their team of runners in support of the “Running for the Mountain” campaign.
They are also inviting all interested runners to pledge their support at the SANParks stand during the Old Mutual Two Oceans Marathon Expo and stand the chance of winning a range of exciting prizes. One of the prizes is two team (3 people per team) entries to the 10th annual Crazy Store Table Mountain Challenge. Each entry is worth R1500.
