|Ai-|Ais/Richtersveld National Park Road closures

Date: 2nd April 2013

South African National Parks (SANParks) today released an urgent warning to all guests on their way to the |Ai-|Ais/Richtersveld Transfrontier Park from Namibia that, as a result of heavy rains, roads leading to the park from the neighbouring country have been flooded and subsequently closed.

Gabrielle Venter, SANParks Acting Regional Communications Manager: Arid Region said roads affected have been closed to ensure visitors' safety during this time. “Guests arriving in the next few days have been informed and advised accordingly to exercise caution and use alternative roads. Visitors will receive updates as and when our Namibian counterparts furnish us with information on the roads situation” said Venter.

Roads that have been affected by rains are:

  • Orangemund Road - closed
  • Rosh Pinah Road – closed
  • Ai-Ais road – closed
  • Noordoewer – closed

On behalf of management, we would like to take this opportunity to apologise to all our guests for any inconveniences experienced as a result of this situation.
