Table Mountain National Park
Media Release: Plight of rhino receives widespread support
Back to all news
Date: 30th January 2013
Even though Cape Town may be physically removed from the Rhino poaching challenge, it does not mean that Capetonians stand aloof. Table Mountain National Park, representing various user groups therefore want to pledge our support toward the campaign to eradicate rhino-poaching in our country.
TMNP and its stakeholders join the national call that ENOUGH is ENOUGH. We call with one voice that losing our Rhino will be losing an asset that belongs to all of us. As a show of our support, an image of a rhino and the Hawks’ anti-rhino poaching helpline number, 071 348 8630, was projected against the face of Table Mountain, yesterday evening, January 29, 2013, from 21h00 to 22h00.
All nations, all the people of South Africa must work together to save the majestic large rhino; if we don’t – what chance is there to save the smaller species from extinction? By the gesture of the projected image, we all pledge our support to all those who are battling this scourge against our beautiful natural assets.
