Date: 5th December 2012
Table Mountain National Park has won the Best Performing Park award at the prestigious South African National Parks (SANParks) Kudu Awards ceremony held at Gallagher Estate in Midrand on Friday, 30 November 2012.These national Awards recognise SANParks staff members and parks throughout the country for their exceptional performance during the year and their efforts in customer service excellence with various categories under the Chief Executive Awards.
Table Mountain National Park performed exceptionally well in the core functions of conservation, constituency building and tourism development, including the implementation of a Visitor Safety plan to reduce crime. The 60 Visitor Safety Rangers along with their 11 security dogs of the Dog Unit were officially inducted during a Passing Out Parade last week Wednesday by SANParks CEO, Dr David Mabunda.
This award is yet another feather in the Table Mountain National Park’s cap of achievements. In May this year Table Mountain National Park became an official New 7 Wonder of Nature. The Inauguration of Table Mountain as a New 7 Wonder of Nature took place on Sunday morning (2 December) at the Lower Cableway Station at the foot of the mountain, as well as at SANParks Head Office at Groenkloof in Pretoria on Monday 3 December.
