Back to all news
Date: 28th August 2012
The Berg-en-Dal picnic site started operating on the 1st of August 2012. The site is operated by the local community from the Hectorspruit area outside the Malelane Gate. Derick Khoza is the friendly host at the picnic site.
Berg-en-Dal picnic site is situated 3km south of the camp on the S110 main road towards the Malelane gate. The facilities include 10 picnic pergolas with seating for six to eight people at each of them. There is also a group site that can cater for a further 24 – 30 people. Gas skottle braais are available for hire at a cost of R20. Ablution facilities are available and include toilets for the mobility-impaired. The kiosk on site sells cold drinks and water at present. Wash-up facilities for dishes are also available at the kitchen area.
There is a beautiful view from the picnic site down to the Majulu valley and north east towards Steilberg. The area is frequented by elephant, buffalo, warthog, kudu and waterbuck. Even lion has come around to do their inspection of the site.
