Media Release: SANParks offers KNP holiday to Bafana squad for entry into World Cup second round
Date: 2010-06-21Dr. David Mabunda, Chief Executive of South African National Parks (SANParks), announced today that if Bafana Bafana got through to the next round of the World Cup, SANParks would offer the members of the current squad, a weekend holiday, with their families, at the world renowned Kruger National Park (KNP).
Dr. David Mabunda, Chief Executive of South African National Parks (SANParks), announced today that if Bafana Bafana got through to the next round of the World Cup, SANParks would offer the members of the current squad, a weekend holiday, with their families, at the world renowned Kruger National Park (KNP). The offer will be doubled, should the team make it through to the quarter-finals.
“The Kruger National Park is an icon of South Africa, and if our national team goes through to the next round, they will be claiming their place as true icons of the country too. It will be an honour to host them at South Africa’s most recognised tourist destination,” said Dr Mabunda.
As the premier custodians of the natural heritage of South Africa, SANParks is also proud of our country’s achievements, especially in hosting one of the world’s biggest sporting events, the FIFA Soccer World Cup. Dr Mabunda said: “As citizens of the host nation, we are proud that we have welcomed the world to our soil in such a warm and African fashion! Now we put our full support behind our national team to play with their hearts and get through to the next round.”
SANParks offers up best wishes to Bafana Bafana in their game against France tomorrow (22 June 2010). SANParks will be proudly waving the South African flag and all employees will be wearing their Bafana jerseys in full support of our national team.
