Wednesday, 20 August 2008 - TMNP rangers arrested 2 suspects, on Tafelberg Rd and Scarborough respectively, on Tuesday, 19 August.
A woman who was hiking on Platteklip Gorge spotted a man breaking into a vehicle and alerted the TMNP rangers who were patrolling the area.
The rangers gave chase and together with SAPS arrested the suspect with stolen goods in his possession on Tafelberg Road. A charge has been laid at the Cape Town Central police station.
In another incident, on the same day, TMNP rangers patrolling the Scarborough vicinity of the Park saw a man they had positively identified on two previous occasions. They held him on site until he was formally arrested by the Simonstown SAPS. Previously, he was spotted at Patridge Point, where, on being chased by TMNP rangers, he dropped two bags with stolen goods which the rangers took to Simonstown police station. Later, he was spotted by rangers who were on patrol in Red Hill. He was also positively identified by a resident of Castle Rock.
