Statement from SANParks on the appointment of Ms Cheryl Carolus as SANParks Board Chairperson
SOUTH African National Parks (SANParks) Chief Executive Dr David Mabunda today welcomed the appointment of Ms Cheryl Carolus as chairperson of the SANParks Board.
Ms Carolus will step in the shoes of former chairman, Mr Murphy Morobe who left the organisation in August to take up a post in the president’s office.
Dr Mabunda said Ms Carolus’ appointment could not have been a better choice and that it will stand the organisation in good stead.
“She brings with her a wealth of experience in the tourism industry and we are confident that she will serve SANParks well in dealing with the very many challenges of a political and economic nature that we face.
“Today’s conservation landscape requires the sound business acumen that she has demonstrated at the helm of SA Tourism and the necessary political clout garnered over the years,” said Dr Mabunda.
He added that SANParks will give her all the necessary support during her tenure.
